2024 Online Consulting Rosarian School

The American Rose Society (“ARS”) has scheduled an online Consulting Rosarian School in February 2024. The classes are offered to everyone interested in learning about rose culture, Consulting Rosarian Candidates, and existing Consulting Rosarians (“CR”). This is a great opportunity to learn about growing roses, chemical safety, fertilizers and insects and diseases at no cost.

The online CR School will be held on two Saturdays, February 3 and February 10, with an online exam to be announced for the Candidates and others taking the test. To receive attendance credit, you must be able to view the presentations using a Smart phone, tablet or computer.

February Online CR School schedule:

Feb. 3 (11:30am to 2:30pm CST) - Consulting Rosarian Mission and Ethics by Diane Sommers, Soil and Water by Steve and Diana Steps, and Chemical Safety by Joe Muzy.

Feb. 10 ((11:30am to 2:30pm CST) - Fertilizer by Art Wade and Insects and Diseases by Baldo Villegas.

Consulting Rosarian Candidates:

• To qualify to become a Consulting Rosarian (CR), you must be 18 years of age, a member of ARS for two years, an active member of your local society, and have grown a variety of roses for five years.

• You can obtain a CR Candidate Form and a copy of the CR Manual from Barbara Kemp at barbkemp@bajabb.com, from the ARS website at www.rose.org (Click on Resources, then Consulting Rosarian Resources, and CR Candidate Form 2023) or attachments below. Complete and return the CR Candidate form, with recommendations from three active CRs, to Barbara Kemp by January 1.

Existing Consulting Rosarians will be able to attend the online CR School to obtain their next audit. Please notify Barbara Kemp (barbkemp@bajabb.com) if you are attending the online CR School for your next audit. The ARS will e-mail the link the week before the online School. If you do not receive the link, please e-mail and I will assist.

Thank you. Barbara Kemp, CR Chair, Rocky Mountain District
